Launch of Report “Dementia: A Public Health Priority”
13 December, 2017

In the month of April 2013, Alzheimer’s Pakistan launched its first quarterly newsletter The purpose of this publication is to deliver information about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and to advocate the cause so that the policy makers consider it as a health priority.

An effort has been made to give you a glimpse of the latest activities of Alzheimer’s Pakistan which include awareness programs, international collaborations, and local networking. The newsletter includes articles by renowned psychiatrists, neurologists and social workers which would help to improve the life of people suffering from Alzheimer’s and could provide valuable information to the caregivers.

The newsletter aims to provide information on latest research being conducted on this disease. It will also carry the efforts being made by the organization to advocate its concerns over Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias at the highest forums in the country.

It is estimated that there are around 0.5 – 01 million people suffering with dementias in Pakistan. With the increase in average age, this number is rising at a fast pace. This situation emphasizes the need to develop Dementia related services to facilitate such growing number of patients and families.

This issue, being the first from Alzheimer’s Pakistan, is somewhat lengthy for a newsletter there was a lot of material waiting in the queue to be shared with our readers. We hope that the readers will enjoy reading the newsletter and continue supporting the elderly population of Pakistan.
