Alzheimer’s Pakistan, Rawalpindi Chapter (APRC) organized an awareness dinner on 21st Sep 2017 at Hotel Shalimar, Mall Road Rawalpindi. The event was attended by Prof. Fareed Aslam Minhas, Dean Rawalpindi Medical University, Brig Dr Mowadat Hussain Rana, Ex Commandant AFIMH, Vice Principal IIMC, faculty members of Behavioural Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University, retired armed forces officers, members from business community, doctors, students and members of APRC.

The event started with the welcome address by Brig Munawar Ahmed Rana, President APRC who highlighted the importance of World Alzheimer’s Month and World Alzheimer’s Day and the need to bring general awareness of Alzheimer’s disease as an upcoming 21st century epidemic. Maj Mian Abdul Basit, General Secretary APRC introduced the organization, its role and some of its achievements through pictures and slides. Brig Dr. Mowadat Hussain Rana explained his personal experiences and the impact of this devastating disease on the patient and the entire family. Dr Fareed Aslam Minhas emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and the need to combat the monster through close collaboration of public-private sector. Thereafter all guests were served dinner.
Every one appreciated the efforts being put in by APRC and rated that the event as an eye opener for those who did not have adequate knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease. Guests from Fatima Jinnah Women University showed great keenness to collaborate with APRC in future.

    Note: It is mandatory for all the volunteers to raise a donation of Rs. 2000 by selling Alzheimer’s Pakistan’s information cards worth 100 rupees (each card) in addition to the above mentioned commitment. All volunteers will be awarded with an acknowledgment certificate.
