Alzheimer’s Pakistan started a new Support Group for family members and caregivers of People Living with Dementia. The first meeting of this new Support Group was held at Alzheimer’s Pakistan’s Head Office in Lahore. The meeting started with a welcome address by Dr. Hussain Jafri, Secretary General Alzheimer’s Pakistan. Dr. Jafri presented on “Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia and the services provided by Alzheimer’s Pakistan”. Ms. Saima Eman, President Khan Bahadur Visionaries presented on “Dementia Caregivers’ needs and the need for a caregivers’ support group”.

The Support Group provided the Family Caregivers an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from other Care Givers on how they are managing the challenging situations experienced during Care Giving.

The Group decided to meet on a monthly basis and invite professionals such as Doctors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists etc as per the demands of the family members.

Dr. Hussain Jafri told the attendees that Alzheimer’s Pakistan is starting Monthly Medical Clinics in Lahore for People Living with Dementia. Moreover, a training program on care giving for caregivers and domestic helpers is also being initiated by the Alzheimer’s Pakistan soon.

    Note: It is mandatory for all the volunteers to raise a donation of Rs. 2000 by selling Alzheimer’s Pakistan’s information cards worth 100 rupees (each card) in addition to the above mentioned commitment. All volunteers will be awarded with an acknowledgment certificate.
