Alzheimer’s Pakistan Rawalpindi Chapter organized a two day course on “Alzheimer’s Disease and Care giving” on 29-30 March 2013 at ” Institute of Psychiatry, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi. The aim of the course was to introduce dementia in general and Alzheimer’s disease in particular. The main focus was on caring of person with dementia and respite care. Some information on present day treatment and the role of genetic factor, were also provided.

The course was found very useful for, general medical practitioners, clinical psychologists, social workers and caregivers. The participants showed a great amount of enthusiasm and actively participated in the discussions. The teaching sessions were conducted by Dr. Asad Nizami, Dr Ehtasham Qadeer, Dr Fatima Bilal and Dr. Bushra Razzaque of Institute of Psychiatry, Dr. Touqeer Ahmed of National University of Science & Technology and Brig. Munawar Ahmed Rana and Major M A Basit of APRC. At the end of the course, participants were awarded certificates.
