A World Alzheimer’s Day (WAD) Basketball Challenge Match was played at Kinnaird College Lahore on Sept 21, 2016. The Basketball challenge was organized by Alzheimer’s Pakistan in collaboration with Lahore Women Basketball Association and was played between Lahore District Basketball team and Lahore Lakers Team, the two prominent teams of the country.
At the half time, the Lahore District Basketball team led by 20 points to 17 points. The final score also showed the same trend as the Lahore District Basketball team won the match by 38 points to 34 points. The main scorers of the match were Mehru Khan 14 and Dania Fatima 6 from Lahore District Basketball team and Sayeda Amina 10 and Zainab Ali 5 from Lahore Lakers Team. Zia Haider Rizvi, president of Alzheimer’s Pakistan was the chief guest at this occasion and gave away the prizes to winning teams.
The match was played in connection with commemoration of World Alzheimer’s Day. Alzheimer’s disease mainly affects elderly people. It is estimated that there are currently one million Alzheimer’s patients in the country. Alzheimer’s Pakistan has appealed to the government to provide treatment and services to Alzheimer’s patients and their families.

    Note: It is mandatory for all the volunteers to raise a donation of Rs. 2000 by selling Alzheimer’s Pakistan’s information cards worth 100 rupees (each card) in addition to the above mentioned commitment. All volunteers will be awarded with an acknowledgment certificate.
